So - I’m in in charge of Marketing and Communications for this networking group where I work and we recently held an Investment Seminar and Fashion Show at Banana Republic in the Galleria. SO FANCY Y’ALL. Nah - it was fun though. This chick Nancy came over from Chase and spoke about finance and investing then we had some of our officers strut they stuff on the catwalk. The coolest part was that we had the whole thing in their warehouse and they had all the mannequins sitting in the back. Kinda wanna go back and shoot it.
I meet up with my friend Maddiebear (@korov) for some delicious sushi and yakisoba Thursday night. She’s apparently made sushi a ton of times and has a fancy rice cooker and knows about this place called h-mart that sells sushi grade meat #WHATUP. She’s got some neat interests to the tune of cosplay/comic-con/other exciting things.
We were talking about our childhood diets and she told me her dad used to travel a lot and would take her out to really unique places to explore different types of food, but that her mom was a little more reserved. Chick’s got some sushi cred; started when she was just a sprout.
MY BOSSES BOSS GAVE ME A CANDY BAR TUHDAYYY! That mean’s she likes me right? (but has also joked about trying to get me to gain weight, so…)
By the way, my bosses boss, my boss and myself are redheaded. We’re pretty much the only redheads on the floor. The best part, the jokes just wont stop. no really. they should stop.
Here are some examples:
- “Hey, If I dye my hair red, can I join your team?”
- “OH LOOK - here comes the red heads, watch out”
- “Did you ladies plan this???”

Did my first test with all my new Arduino LilyPad stuff that came in the mail. When it gets dark the buzzer plays a scale. Here’s all the components that come in the basic starter kit. I’m really excited to start working with the other sensors and actuators.
Some things I learned:
- Draw out diagrams before you start sewing
- Pay attention to what you’re doing
- Digital vs. Analog… duh. (I sewed the light sensor to a digital pin. OOPS!)
Drove my bby to the car wash. I have to change some parts but my girl needs a serious bath (or two). Really wishing I had a driveway with a sweet garden hose at this point; going to the self wash with only a few bucks was INTENSE yo.
I changed my emblems though #classy (really hoping they don’t get stolen. that roundel be steep)
We took a little trip to White Rock Lake today - it was so nice out; reading books and postulating by the water. I’m hoping to start running there now that its not so dang cold. There was also a dead animal that washed up on shore. That was cool. // You can kind of see it in the background of the photo.
In the foreground of the photo is Agata - she’s Polish and has a really long last name. I lived with her a few years ago; we threw some amazing themed parties together. We also made cupcakes for our neighbors so they wouldn’t hate us. She’s reading this book called Snow Crash that’s apparently kind of a big deal? She just started working downtown and I’m about to go get lunch with her…
oh, also - we decided it was time to invest in a quality kite.
six months left… and I’m hijacking this site
Just about six months left in Dallas before things start to get moving. I really want to experience Dallas to the fullest. The weather is starting to get nice; this is going to be a rad summer.
Saturday’s brunch was hosted by Jonathon’s Oak Cliff. The best part: rolling in with a two-set of super classy ladies I know. Foooood Piccccc: The Kure (That’s tabasco gravy if you were wondering…)
We made a list of cool things to do:
- bike around in dallas, maybe even start a bad girls biking crew
- brunch, brunch, brunch
- shoot guns, tuesday night at the DFW Gun Range
- Dancing while making food
- Dancing while singing
- Downtown Museums & Thanksgiving Square
- Hang out w/ serial killers
- Drive around with saudis in audis, bmws and mercedes stunting
Later met up wit some broz for that Crooked Tree (btw their smoothies really are pretty gross there; them hustlas need some smoothie lessons). Current Read: Getting Started w Arduino for my Capstone - going to make some LEDs light up this week.

Went to a bomb-ass restaurant opening Friday night with Meagan: Sissy’s on Henderson. There was free champagne y’all (along with crab cakes, pork ribs and other things) and a super hot staff of course. They gave us a gift bag with a baby Maker’s Mark and a satchel of cranberry oatmeal cookies. I’d go back again.
Mid October
We’re going to be together again in Chicago from October 12 - 18th!!! There’s a SWE Conference I’m attending during the day but the night time better watch out. Most excited about the Google tour… What is an October Chicago like anyways? Come hang with us! - XOXO, Amy
